2018 Australian Marathon Championships

Athletics Australia has invited all state and territory member associations to send up to six male and six female athletes to contest the 2018 Australian Marathon Championship. The top three athletes from each gender will accumulate points towards a team score, and all athletes will contest the half marathon championship title. 

Assistance Packages

The following assistance packages will be available for a maximum of three male and three female athletes from each state and territory:

  • Free race entry
  • Use of the elite athlete facilities on race day (eg. dressing room)
  • An elite start at the front of the field
  • One night's twin share accommodation
  • Allowance of $150.00 per athlete
  • Ground transport to the start line
  • Facility access into/out of event venue for the athlete briefing

Athletics NSW will select the top six male and top six female nominations which will be submitted to Athletics Australia who will then determine the allocation of assistance packages. 


Any athlete wishing to compete at the 2018 Marathon Championships is encouraged to submit a nomination to compete for NSW. Nominations are free and will only take a couple of minutes of your time. 

Please note that all nominations are due via this portal at 9:00am, Monday 30th July 2018. We will be unable to accept any late nominations after this time. 


Any athlete nominating to represent NSW at these championships must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age as at 31 December 2018
  • Be a registered member with Athletics NSW
  • Have achieved the relevant entry standard
    • Men 3:30.00
    • Women 3:40.00
